US State Department supports Ambassador to Tirana, Donald Lu

The Spokesperson of the US State Department, Mark Toner, commented the stances of the Ambassador in an interview for the Voice of America.

When asked if the stances held by Ambassador Lu are personal or in line with the US State Department, Toner said that the policy of the USA in Albania is to support the country’s EU accession through the reforms that are necessary to reach this goal, which includes the Justice Reform, fight against corruption and organized crime, and the fight against violent extremism.

“Ambassador Lu and his team have worked in partnership with the Albanian authorities and the civil society to realize the policies and purposes of the USA. The State Department fully trusts the Embassy in Tirana”, Toner said.

The US State Department appealed all political parties in Albania to respect the rule of law and democratic process. The USA want to see a strong Albania, and totally integrated, involved in the Euro-Atlantic family.
