The US Ambassador, Donald Lu, greeted the arrest of Emiljano Shullazi
and even called him the head of the organized crime in Albania.

The US Ambassador was the first one to report in public the criminal affair of Shullazi, a few months ago, and said that the investigations should be thorough and independent.

“We have seen judges and prosecutors being arrested in the past years. Even parliament speakers and former ministers. Now we saw the arrest of the head of the organized crime, Emiljano Shullazi. We greet these positive steps and we expect for these cases to be treated independently”, Lu said.

He considered the justice reform as obligatory for the Albanian politics. While speaking in an important economic forum, such as the US Chamber of commerce, Lu said that this reform will help business and will attract bigger investors in Albania.

“One of the issues that I have discussed mostly with you is the reform. You have told me that if you want to have a trusted justice system, it will make a big change for growing your businesses. The justice reform will attract bigger investors and will increase the credibility of businesses”, Lu underlined.

The Ambassador warned that a quick justice reform would divide the good from evil even in politics.

“We are close to the ending of this reform. The party leaders should influence an acceleration of the justice reform. It is important to have politicians working for their people”, Lu added.
