Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Mayor of Tirana, Lulzim Basha, discussed the Tirana Urban Plan with the interest groups.
The waste management, the public transportation, the aqueduct and the canalizations were three of the most important points of this plan, which need a long-term solution for the Tirana citizens.
“Improving the water supply, in order to achieve the objectives announced in the national strategy, approved on May 2011; the development of a supply-demand water system, which responds to the urban development of the city; a discussion that becomes relevant, since we will present it to the Municipal Council in the next meeting; taking the responsibilities of the Municipality with the Aqueduct, or the finalization of the process for transferring the responsibilities and responsibilities of the Aqueduct and the assembly of shareholders, in which the Tirana Municipality is the main shareholder, with 72.5% of the shares”, Basha declared.
In this meeting was also underlined that the Japanese government is one of the most important partners for the country, since it has donated 114 million USD for the construction of the sewerage system and 65 million EUR for the reconstruction of the Aqueduct canalizations.
“The tram construction and the assignment of a functional system for the traffic; some of the environmental objectives in the urban plan include a network of parks, and also regional parks, beyond the white line, the improvement of the green corridors through dedicated interventions, aiming to turn these corridors and green areas of Tirana in a reality within and outside the city”, Basha declared.
The Tirana Urban Plan is being assisted by the Japanese State Agency.
