Unusual rainfall and hail have affected the fields of Korça in the southeast of Albania this beginning of May, damaging the newly hatched and newly planted agricultural production in the country’s largest plain area.
In two villages of the Leskovik administrative unit, Gërmenj and Shelegur, the hail caused extensive damage to fruit trees and agricultural crops.
Top Channel’s Dhorjela Çule reports that the biggest damages are in cherry and plum trees, as well as lower salable agricultural crops.
Two days ago, the hail storm also hit Elbasan in central Albania.
Sudden downpours during this period are harmful especially in agriculture and horticulture. Spring plantings and trees suffer great damage from out of season hail such as this.
