The deputies of the opposition parties of Kosovo left the plenary session today, after the Speaker of the Assembly ended the session after it was interrupted by physical exchanges between opposition MPs of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, and members of the government.

Deputies of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) physically attacked Prime Minister Albin Kurti and other members of the government while Kurti was speaking about the situation in the north of Kosovo. Meanwhile the opposition deputies chanted “liar”.

Initially, opposition MP Mergim Lushtaku threw water in the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi, after Bislimi removed and tore from the pulpit a fake poser of the prime minister with an elongated nose, placed there by the opposition.

Then the situation worsened with physical attacks on the Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati.

Before he was attacked, Kurti spoke in Parliament about the sub-head of the Kosovo Serb party, the rumored pro-Serb criminal Milan Radoicic, and how his arrest warrant was withdrawn against him in 2021, a few days before the then government was formed.

“When there were previous governments, this chief criminal was in Mitrovica, he was in Pristina”, Kurti was saying before the altercation.

In recent days, as in this session, the opposition has been critical of the government after the publication in the media of the wiretapping of the head of the Vetëvendosje parliamentary group in power, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, where she admits that she had a conversation with the vice president of Lista Serbska, Milan Radoicic.

Kurti kept calm by not reacting, while the Speaker of the Assembly asked the security to intervene.

The extraordinary session was held at the request of 41 deputies of the Vetevendosje in power. The legislators have approved in the second reading the Bill on the prices of medicinal products.

Eliza Hoxha from the opposition Democratic Party of Kosovo, said that after the Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi left the plenary hall, the session can continue.

“I think that after Bislimi left the hall and our condition was met, I think that now the session can continue,” she said.

In the hall, when opposition deputies of the PDK and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo gathered near the pulpit, members of the close defense of Prime Minister Albin Kurti were also present.

The opposition had placed a banner next to the pulpit reading “Zdravo”, “Greetings” in Serbian, with the portrait of the head of the Parliamentary Group of the Vetëvendosje in power, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, and that of Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
