An agreement between the Albanian government and the United Arab Emirates envisions the transformation of the Durrës port into a tourist area dedicated to passengers and yachts.
Meanwhile, for the transport of goods, the government envisages the construction of a new port in Porto Romano. Belinda Balluku, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, together with Muhammed El Alabbar, president of the UAE-based EMAAR Group, inspected on the ground the area where the construction of the new port is planned.
The project also envisages a host of transformational investments, along the entire perimeter in front of the port. Shortly before leaving Tirana, Muhammed El Alabbar in an interview with Top Channel’s Muhamed Veliu, initially answers the question why the United Arab Emirates, in addition to building a new neighborhood in Durrës, is involved in this project in the port of this city.
“I believe that as a result of the investment agreement with the government of the Emirates and the Albanian one, a good platform has been set up for cooperation between the companies, your government and the Emirates. And so Durrës, seeing the history , culture and the heritage that exists, is the right place for all of us in this cooperation”, El Alabbar stated.
“In Durrës, the most advanced engineering and design methods of the time will be used. Apartments, hotels, shopping malls will be built, including entertainment facilities. This cannot be done without having a first-class infrastructure so one must think about how roads, parks and premises are remodeled for people to live their lives according to the best examples. My advantage is that I have done this job over the last 30 years with my professional staff. Here we will bring for Durrës the best of all that we have learned.”
