While many judges are going through the first phase of the Vetting Law, the Union of Judges appealed media outlets and politicians to respect standards.

The appeal was aiming especially the Vetting Law institutions, which, according to the judge community, must not go beyond the limits set by the Constitutional Court and confirmed by the Venice Commission.

“The Union of Judges wants the Vetting institutions to continue with a vetting process that is based on high standards of the European Court of Human Rights, the Venice Commission, the opinion of European judicial networks, Constitutional Court verdicts, focusing on creating a healthier judicial system rather than punishing judges. The Union wants the public opinion, media and politicians to not influence the vetting process with unfounded and often emotional declarations”, the Union declared.
