Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future After the ABC books, this year will start the process for the
unification of Albanian Grammar and History books with the state of
Kosovo.
“Next week we will have a group from Kosovo, which will discuss the Commission for the Grammar and History books. There will be unified books for the secondary system and then for the high schools”, declared the Minister of Education, Myqerem Tafaj.
But this idea, for the experts of education, sounds unrealizable if there will not be an unification of the programs and curriculum.
“It is necessary to have a national education platform which must be approved in parliament by all political forces of both sides, and should take in consideration all legal regulations”, declared Shezai Rrokaj, Dean at the Faculty of Philology.
Rrokaj mentioned the problems caused so far by the “Altertext”, a reform that needs many amends.
“There’s a lot to change with the Altertext, the curriculum, the text distribution, the relations between the publishing houses and the teams of teachers and school directors. There are many problems that need to be discussed so that we can follow the idea that the best text should have the biggest terrain”, Rrokaj declared.
For the Socialist MP, Ledi Shmaku, this is a promise that cannot be realized without unifying the programs.
“The World Bank experts have led experts from Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia to review the process. The curriculum and school programs should be written for the entire pre-university system, because the programs are the oven where the raw material is given, and new texts are born. Is a guilty declaration, because our actual pre-university system was changed from 5+4+3 to 6+3+3. Kosovo is still having it 5+4+3 and the Ministry knows this, because they are the ones who made the change”, Shmaku declared.
The unification of the texts is an idea supported by all Albanians, but they want that the declarations should not be political, but concrete and real.
