UNESCO, Executive Council recommends Kosovo’s accession

The Executive Council of UNESCO voted in Paris in favor of Kosovo’s
accession to this international organization with 27 votes in favor and
14 against.

The news has been confirmed by the Kosovo Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci, who is following the process together with a delegation of his Ministry.

Cuba and Russia voted against. Russia even proposed to postpone the decision, which is expected to be voted.

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, reacted immediately on social networks by greeting the decision of UNESCO. Now it is up to the General Council of UNESCO to finalize the procedure.
