The illegal employment practices in the Albanian media is facing its
worst situation in 10 years. Only in the last three months 12
journalists have sued their employees.

This was confirmed by the leader of the Journalists Union, Alexander Cipa, during a press release in which was published a report by the Journalists Union in cooperation with the OSCE and the Friedrich Ebert foundation.

“There is no report in any of the institutions which treat the social problems of the Albanian market. I appeal all journalists to gather in a protest on May 3rd at 12:00 at the Albanian Parliament and report this fact. Our institutions must react so that this situation will not continue with this bad situation. 90% of the journalists have delays in their payment. You can understand what problems they have”, Cipa declared.

The report focused on the real dimension of the problematic that concerns the journalists and the media employees. This is the first of this kind in 10 years. The study was held in 12 cities, with more than 500 questionnaires distributed to several media employees who answered anonymously.
