Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The UN Security Council reviewed the report of the General Secretary, Ban Ki Moon, about the situation in Kosovo.
The document mentions the northern situation in serious tones, valuing that the dialogue between the two countries is the only solution for unblocking the situation.
The Foreign Minister of Kosovo, who was present at this meeting, declared that the last three months of the crisis have served to strengthen the institutions of Kosovo. He also sought more help from the international community for convincing Serbia to abandon the constant sabotage tactics through the roadblocks.
“We are committed to fight crime throughout the territory and no Kosovo citizen, the Serb minority included, will have any immunity”, Hoxhaj declared.
UNMIK representative Farid Zafit declared that it is absolutely necessary to resolve the situation without violence and bloodshed.
The Foreign Minister of Serbia, Vuk Jeremic, held a double position regarding the roadblocks.
“The September 16th action was supported by KFOR and UNMIK. This action obliged Mitrovica Serbs to act through this manner”, he declared.
However, Jeremic admitted that the roadblocks should be removed one day.
“It is clear that the roads cannot be blocked for ever, but some political conditions must be fulfilled first. The dialogue is the only way for achieving this”, he added.
Jeremic returned to the accusations of Dick Marty, who accuses Albania and Kosovo of coordinating organs traffic during the 1999 conflict.
“Serbia needs higher commitment by the international community for continuing the investigations”, Jeremic declared.
