For the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, the progress made by Albania is sufficient to start the accession negotiations, but the member countries must be convinced for giving their green light.
“EU negotiations are not easy. My dream is to see Albania with its EU path. It is in Albania’s best interest to be fully integrated in the EU. What Albania has done so far is enough for opening the accession negotiations. The next challenge is convincing member countries to open the negotiations by June”, Donald Tusk declared.
In a joint declaration with Prime Minister Rama, Tusk congratulated the Albanian people and said that the work ahead is not easy task, starting with the rule of law, fight against organized crime and judicial reform.
Albanian PM Edi Rama said that integration requires its own time, and he thanked Mr.Tusk for the support in this direction.
