Determined in promoting Kosovo, several professionals from Peja welcome
each day tourists who arrive at the tourism office, which offers several
packages of activities.
Top Channel’s team was welcomed by the “Peja Spiders” association to visit the “Via Ferrata” or the “Iron Trail”.
Two kilometers from Peja there is the Lumbardh River, with caves, cascades and magnificent views decorated by wonderful plants around Rugova.
All you need for climbing the Via Ferrata is a good physical condition, special equipment and not any special training. The rocky trail starts from the Queen’s Cave.
Via Ferrata is secured with steel wires in its stairs and rocks, so that climbers and all visitors can have an easier access.
The majesty of the Cursed Mountains can be best seen when you arrived at the end of the Iron Trail.
After a short pause on the top of the mountain, the returning trip is on the same trail. For two hours visitors can have an unforgettable experience. Via Ferrata in Rugova is the first one of this ki nd in Balkan.
“Since it is the first of this kind in Balkan, we expect more tourists next year”, declared Nol Krasniqi, from the “Peja Spiders” group.
This project was made possible by the climbing association “Peja S[piders” and SAT, from the Italian province of Trento. In the future it is expected to be even longer.
The best known place for the Via Ferratas in Italy are the Dolimite. It was built during the WWI for a better defense of Italy and Austria.
