Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Palace of Brigades was built in 139, after Albania’s self-proclaimed
king Zog left the country, and now it could return to his family.
The trial for returning this property, which is an important cultural heritage object, started just a few months before the elections.
“Te case for giving the Palace of Brigades to the so called royal – I’m saying ‘giving’, not ‘returning’, because that family has taken properties that do not belong to them but that were built during the monarchy era – and now we see that they are trying to give a property that was built after Zog left Albania on April 1939”, declared Artan Lame, chairman of the Cultural Heritage forum.
Artan Lame explained that the Palace of Brigades and its surrounding area, a 64 hectares surface, might turn into a construction arena.
“We have reported many cases when parks disappear through the new regulation plan, and we also spoke about the Artificial Lake Park, which the new project is also damaging. The Park around the Palace of Brigades was destroyed yesterday and the entire surrounding area was left in a degraded situation. This new step is turning the Palace of Brigades into a construction area for those whoa re involved in this affair”, Lame declared.
The new Tirana Regulation plan is diminishing the green areas and threatening the Tirana Lake Park area as well. Only a few days ago, a group of environmentalists declared that it should be included in the protected areas list. Now it seems that the President’s adviser is trying to evict his superior.
