Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Tirana University Hospital Center “Mother Teresa” will soon have the
National Center of Transplants, which will help a considerable number
of patients who need this intervention and who have often found
solutions in foreign or private clinics.
The Health Minister, Petrit Vasili, signed a cooperation agreement with the National Center of Transplants in Italy, which will offer its experience.
“This is a formal official cooperation that opens way not only to the perfection of our mechanisms, but also to the creation of a transplant team that enables the solution of this problem for a long time. It also answers to the vital requests of given patients who need such interventions, having the kidney transplant as priority and that in the years to come will formulate even bigger ambitions”, Vasili declared.
The Italian doctors will bring their experience for the kidney transplant, not only with donations by living people.
“We are honored to be part of this agreement with the Albanian Ministry and reinforce the transplant process between the dead and alive donators. We are on the final phase of executing an agreement that has started much earlier, and now we have everything ready, in its real beginning. We will work hard for creating a staff that will deal with this project”, declared the Italian doctor, Alessandro Nanni Costa.
A small number of kidney surgeries have been conducted at this hospital, while the National center will resolve this problem for all of those who cannot pay the fees of this service in the private clinics.
