A tragic explosion that occurred this afternoon in a construction warehouse in Lushnje has shocked public opinion.
It was about 15:30 when father and son Roland and Lidio Hoxha were driving the crane when it is believed that they accidentally touched the high voltage wires, which proved fatal for both of them.
It is suspected that the sparks caused an oxygen cylinder to have triggered a powerful explosion that in addition to the two victims, left several others injured.
The explosion was felt throughout the city of Lushnje, while among the injured was reported the socialist MP Bujar Çela.
As a result of the explosion, Roland Hoxha, the crane driver, died at the scene, while his son, Lidio, died on the way to the Tirana hospital.
The young man was reported to have returned from emigration only a short time ago.
At the time of the explosion, Lidio Hoxha was in the crane with his father, while the crane was lifting the oxygen cylinders that were being used in welding.
The police continue the investigation to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy.
