Tourist businesses facing bankruptcy

Despite the increased number of the tourists in our country, many
businesses are on the brink of bankruptcy due to the low service
standards.

This was confirmed by the chairman of the tourist operators in Albania, Sadik Malaj, in the symposium “Albanian Tourism in the Development Path”, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports.

“Despite all the efforts and the luring offers for attracting tourists from the EU, the long stays in the Albanian beaches have not been a very pleasant experience. We see that after so many years, the businesses in the tourist areas of Golem, Plazh, Kavaja and Durres are facing bankruptcy because of the way they were built, the management and their perception of tourism”, declared Sadik Malaj.

Malaj also valued the increase of tourism and the success of tours with historical themes. According to the information of the tourist operators, foreign visitors have shown a special interest for the objects of our cultural heritage.

Minister Bumci valued the progress of tourism and presented the figures for the past tourist season.

“The total contribution, not only the industry, but the entire chain that puts this industry into motion is 287.9 billion ALL, or 21.7% of the GDP”, declared the Interior Minister, Aldo Bumci.

According to the Minister, the number of non-resident visitors for January-August 2012 was 25% higher than the same period of 2011.
