Albania is facing a difficult challenge at the UN today, in the extraordinary session after US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as capital of Israel.
The US Ambassador at the UN, Nikky Haley, warned that the names of the countries that will vote against this US move will be noted down.
The White House also insinuated that they would interrupt financial assistance to these countries, and Albania is one of those that benefits.
“They can vote against us. We don’t care. We will save more money because it will not continue as it used to in the past, when they voted against us and we still gave them millions of dollars. They will benefit nothing from America. This is certain”, Trump declared.
His threat was mostly addressed to UN members from Africa, Asia and Latin America, which are more vulnerable to US pressure.
Egypt, the country that initiated this process, is the fourth country that receives most military aid from USA, Iraq is listed first, Israel second and Afghanistan third.
