The Albanian President, Bamir Topi, participated in the 15th anniversary of the foundation of the Mirdite Diochesis.
The head of the Albanian state gave the “Mother Theresa” title to the Archbishop Kristofer Palimiri and the Missionary Lino Nikolai, for their contribution to people in need.
The President honored with the “Naim Frashwri” post-mortem title the teacher from Mirdita, Preng Filopati.
Topi valued the role of Mirdite citizens in the public and political life of the country, considering this area as the stronghold against every barbarism.
“Your Mirdite, and the Mirdite of everyone, symbolises the most precious Albanian tradition. The autochthon laws that inspired Father Shtjefen Gjeçovi, the cultural monument of Kanun and the resistance against any barbarism. Mirdita symbolizes the strong faith as an European identity. In the 50 years of communist regime, same as before, the Mirdita citizens became martyrs of faith and freedom of speech, by building the modern and positive cult of the Albanian cleric”, Topi declared.
Topi was attended by the Mayor of Rreshen, Ndue Kola. In his word, Kola demanded the return of the Court, Prosecution and other institutions in their town, so that the citizens can receive their services in time.
