Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
Around 100 Parliament Speakers and representatives from all over the
world, including Albania, gathered in Washington for the Parliamentary
Forum for Democracy.
The opening speech of this forum that is being held in Capitol Hill was held by the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, John Boehner, who guaranteed MPs from all over the world that the US House of Representatives will be partner of any country that inspires for democracy and works for consolidating it.
The Albanian Parliament Speaker, Jozefina Topalli, valued the weight of this forum in a time when the number of countries who try to pass from autocratic regimes to democracy is constantly growing.
Taking as example the long and painful trip of Albania, from communist dictatorship to democracy, Mrs. Topalli declared that the country has had great transformations in the last 20 years, thanks to the courage of the free people and the reforms of the past two decades.
The Parliament Speaker declared that the objective of the Albanian Parliament agenda are the reforms, the fulfillment of which have made that the Albanians, who were totally isolated 20 years ago, today travel free all over Europe, while Albania is ranked among the most stabilized small economies.
