Topalli meets Ambassador Arvizu

The Albanian Parliament Speaker, Jozefina Topalli, held a meeting with the US Ambassador to Tirana, Alexander Arvizu.

The meeting was held this Thursday and the Albanian Parliament announcement says that they discussed about the Parliament agenda and the work achieved by the Parliamentary commissions so far.

Mrs. Topalli informed Ambassador Arvizu about the Parliament performance and especially the electoral reform progress.

The parliament Speaker updated Mr. Arvizu for a series of articles and amends passed by the Electoral Reform Commission, in accordance with the OSCE-ODIHR recommendations after the elections of 2009 and 2011.

The Parliament Speaker expressed her conviction that the Commission has the possibility to close its work within the given deadline, by the end of April.

The meeting was held after the lunch that Mr. Arvizu had this Wednesday with Prime Minister Berisha. Although both the Prime Minister and the Ambassador were accompanied by their wives, the might have discussed the political situation and the election of the next President during the lunch.

The lunch was an invitation made  to Ambassador Arvizu a few days ago, while he is expected to visit the USA in the next days.

Berisha will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Albanai’s Independence with the Vatra Association, but the most important stop was in Washington DC, where the Prime MInister will meet high rank officials of the State Department.
