The Prosecution’s request for arresting former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri, took place right when Albania started the Vetting Law, a judiciary reform that has had great support and assistance from international partners.
But is there a connection between Tahiri and the judiciary reform? On tonight’s Top Story, Dashamir Shehi declared that the behavior of the majority with MP Tahiri loses trust on the reform.
“It creates mistrust and prejudice. It shows that whoever has power, gets away with it”, Shehi declared.
The leader of the Party for Law and Justice, Spartak Ngjela, declared that despite the political developments, the judiciary reform cannot be stopped by politicians. The Prosecution of Serious Crimes, for Ngjela is a corrupted institution and all their current moves benefit the parties of the opposition, but the majority as well.
“International partners are the ones who made the judiciary reform, (as a condition for EU accession), not us. Rama and Berisha found a new way to attack the judiciary reform, but with the laws that they passed, they cannot do it, because they have no access on new institutions”, Ngjela declared,
