The scandal of the phone records in Italy has deepened even more by a photo published some days ago by Top Channel.
The scandal involves an Italian realtor who had asked for and achieved a meeting with the then Albanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ilir Meta, for asking business favors in Albania through the Italian Foreign Minister, Franco Frattini.
While the Italian Foreign Ministry denied this Tuesday of having organized any meeting between Walter Lavitola and Ilir Meta, after a photo published on Top Channel which showed the three men during a conversation, the Italian Foreign Ministry was found in a difficult situation.
For explaining the photo, the Italian Foreign Ministry released a second press release, saying that Minister Frattini didn’t know at that time who Walter Lavitola was and that Meta knew him before Frattini had made any acquaintances with the Italian that now has fled Italy after an arrest order released by Italian courts.
The Italian newspaper “La Repubblica” treated Lavitola’s case in its front page, and also the request he made to the secretary of the Minister Frattini for meeting Ilir Meta.
