The Tivari Massacre is one of the bloodiest crimes committed by Former Yugoslavia’s Communist Regime against Kosovo Albanians and other communities.

The book “Tivari Massacre and Responsibility of the Albanian State”, written by historian Uran Butka, is another important contribution in the area of historic literature.

“I used the archives of Albania and Yugoslavia to write this book. It wasn’t an easy feat. This massacre is mentioned in around 1000 copies of historic documents in Belgrade and from the former Communist Party of Yugoslavia”, Uran Butka said.

“The massacre was realized by the Communist State of Yugoslavia, through the National-Liberation Army. For this reason they wanted to re-invade Kosovo, which had united with Albania during the war. Then they wanted a full ethnic cleansing. The Albanian government has also urged them to fight the opponents of communists in both sides of the border”, Butka said.

No responsibility has been taken so far in Kosovo, Serbia or Albania for this massacre.

“1000 people were killed in Albanian territory,  1500 in Tivar. The total number, including the disappeared, mounts up to 4000”, the historian said.
