Tirana with underground parking

The constructions for the first underground parking space in Tirana will start soon, with 1000 parking spots.
The Mayor of Tirana, Lulzim Basha, has signed an agreement with the representative of the Gener 2 Company, which will build it at the Italy Square, at the Qemal Stafa stadium.
The Municipal Council voted the decision with only the majority’s votes, rejected by the Tirana prefect, Keltis Kruja.
According to article 33 of the law for the local government organization and functionality, the decisions for the exploiting the properties of third parties needs to be voted with qualified majority at the Municipal Council.
“We are respecting the law. The documentation is up to the Municipal Council. As for the rest of the agreement, it is made between the Municipality administration and the company”, declared Mayor Lulzim Basha.
According to Basha, the construction of this underground parking will reduce the traffic in the capital and will create new jobs.
