Tirana Municipality publishes list of fines and penalties for city abusers

Tirana Municipality published today the fines and penalties list to be imposed on those who violate and abuse with public property in the city. Mayor Erion Velial also presented all 24 for mandated area managers and insisted the action to clean the city would be a long term project.
People would be fined with 50 thousand lekë if they are caught dumping waste outside containers or on the street. Illegal building would be fined minimum 5 million lekë and wrongdoers would have to pay clean up expenses. Illegal exploiting of public property gets you a 200 thousand lekë fine and 3 thousand lekë for any square meter unlawfully occupied.
Damaging public property would be fined with 200 thousand lekë, while heavy machinery pollution would get a 100 thousand lekë. 50 thousand lekë is the fine for public space pollution during commercial activities.
“The first scope of this action is to change the mentality and get people to live together in a community accepting some rules that no one can tolerate breaking. It is true some of the cleaning companies have not been paid for ten months now, but I believe they will perform thanks to our insistence”, Veliaj said during the presentation ceremony.
