For the first time, Tirana becomes part of the Winter Pret-Christmas Market”, one of the biggest fairs of Europe which is held in Brussels.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, was present at the official opening ceremony, accompanied by his Belgian counterpart, Philip Closse.
“I am glad that thanks to the support of the Mayor of Brussels, in and thanks to all participants, in Belgium and Albania as well, we realized this participation at maybe the biggest winter holidays fair in the world. More than 2 million people will walk on this road. I am certain that you will be able to see the greeting card of Tirana and of the good Albania, which needs to show its true image, it needs to show its culture, its smart and knowledgeable people, its food, history, nature, taste and aesthetics”, Veliaj declared.
The Mayor of Tirana underlined that Albanians have a historic duty today, to show the best values of our country. He said that the relations that will be created on this fair between people, is what truly makes us European.
Veliaj thanked the Albanian embassy in Brussels and the organization that are operating in Diaspora, and also their efforts through the years to transmit the culture and traditions of our country to their younger generations.
During his visit in Brussels Mayor Veliaj met with the Albanian community as well, and placed a wreath on te statue of the Albanian national hero, Skanderbeg.
