Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Based on the propositions of environmentalists, for giving to the Tirana
Artificial Lake the status of a 4th category protected area, the urban
planning experts raised the alarm for other dangers that this park
faces, even with the status.
According to them, there is a lack of political will for stopping its destrction.
“Two foreign embassies have bought land within the park and will build their residences. The area between the University and the National Guard risks to not be considered anymore as a park. One month ago, a private school cut trees in the park for creating new terrains”, declared Artan lame, territorial planning expert.
Lame raises the concern for the constructions that have been built without permission within the park, and now are expecting to be legalized.
“The illegal constructions within the park, which we thought that would be destroyed for having no permission, now have entered the legalization process”, Lame declared.
According to Lame, there is no status that defends this park, when the government allows its destruction.
“The Tirana Municipality says that they will create new Parks, but we might lose the park with which we grew up. The government lacks of the political will for saving the park”, Lame says.
