Tirana hosted the 8th edition of LibCon, the annual international conference of the technological open source platform “LibreOffice”, which was attended by more than 250 representatives from around the world, members of the programming community and other computer platforms.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, invited other institutions to embrace technological novelties. He took as an example the fact that the municipality has made good use of technology by giving citizens easier access to many services.
Veliaj announced that within this year they will start construction works to transform Tirana’s “Pyramid” into an “innovation school” that will increase the digital culture in the country and the region.
The LibreOffice representative in our country, Redon Skikuli, valued the positive approach of Tirana’s Municipality towards these platforms, which are the best way to increase the citizens’ interest and transparency of institutions.
