Hundreds of citizens gathered in the city square “Skenderbej” to celebrate the New Year. This time they were fewer in numbers, probably because there was no concert organized for the occasion. However, citizens gathered to celebrate and watch the fireworks.
The fireworks of the Tirana Municipality had the company of thousands of others thrown by residents, as every year, who fired them from their balcinies and city squares, creating noises that seemed more similar to a bombardment than firework play.
However, together with the Albanians there were also foreigners who work here and joined this method of celebration.
“We wish all the best for the new year, that everything goes well and that there is less corruption in this world. I think this is the most important thing that we should expect”, one of them declared.
After waiting midnight with their families, youth gathered in clubs and pubs to continue the celebrations.
