The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, included the inauguration of
the works for the Tirana-Albania highway construction with the agenda of
the 100th year of independence.
The new road cuts the distance between Tirana and Elbasan. For Prime Minister Berisha, this is the most important work of the Albanian infrastructure, for also being part of Corridor 8.
“This road unites Elbasan with Tirana and creates one of the biggest markets in our region. This road approaches the capital with a very productive area, like Korca. This road cuts the travel to Skopje with one hour”, Berisha declared.
Berisha considered this period as the blossom spring of the Albanian infrastructure, and declared that the construction works will soon start for the Qukes-Qafe Plloce area, which cuts other minutes in the road to Korca. For the Prime Minister, the works at the Qafe Murrize tunnel, for the Arber Road and 1200 other kilometers in the road infrastructure and some other public projects, as a testimony of the developing economy.
“This shows the economic performance of Albania’s economy, the economic strength of this country and that denies the crocodile tears of those who oppose development”, Berisha declared.
With the construction of the Tirana-Elbasan highway, Prime Minister Berisha reminded the vote of the Socialist Party in Parliament against the budget that included the construction of the tunnel. He made an invitation to the opposition.
“I invite the opposition to make a collective visit to the tunnel, in order to apologize. Making mistakes is human, not correcting them is crazy”, Berisha declared.
The head of the Albanian government believes that the tunnel will end withi this year, while the entire road has another deadline that coincides with the next electoral campaign, May 2013.
