Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future On the 60th anniversary of the Tirana Comedy Theater creation, the
artists that have worked in it in years gathered to remind their life on
the scene.
The artists shared special emotions, and even their disagreement for the closure of this institution in 2005.
Skender Sallaku, actor : We have received great compliments from the public, but its closure is a burden in my heart. I am very sorry for this. There is a state comedy theater in Pogradec, Kukes, Peshkopia… and they closed it for Tirana, which used to have 26 shows per month.
Melpomeni Çobani, actress: There are actors, singers and musicians that should have received some kind of gratitude today, on the 60th anniversary of its creation. It should have come from the Presidency.
Luan Zhegu, singer: The closure of the state comedy theater is like removing laughter from the capital.
Actor Met Bega also expressed his nostalgia for being part of the last show of this theater, and he added that people need humor.
While the institutions were not giving the necessary attention to humor, TV shows like “Portokalli” serve it to the public by keeping comedy alive.
The Tirana Comedy Theater was the first in Albania, and has had artists like Melpomeni Çobani, Anita Take, Skënder Sallaku, Met Bega, Rita Lati, Telat Agolli, Luan Zhegu and Ema Qazimi, who have entertained the public for many years.
