The boulevard “Deshmoret e Kombit” was filled with hundreds of citizens holding red and black flags in their hands.

All Albanians celebrated the 99th anniversary of independence, the day when Ismail Qemali from Vlore, together with other men who represented the entire nation, raised the Albanian Flag in Vlore, announcing Albania’s independence after 5 centuries of Ottoman occupation. Besides the roads, the national flags could be seen hanged out from apartment balconies.
The Albanian symbols were today’s most preferred products on the market. Prime Minister Berisha and his wife, accompanied by the Mayor Lulzim Basha, preferred to buy artisan objects with the national symbols, such as scarves, room decoration and wine from the Durres cellar.

His congratulation to the Albanians was to promote the national values and buy Albanian.

The Mayor honored the act of Adem Jashari by placing wreaths at his bust. He then followed the children’s theater, performed by Metropol Theater.

The Art Gallery offered photographs with the national historical figures, such as Ismail Qemali, Isa Boletini, Luigj Gurakuqi and Marigo of Murat Toptani, who were imitated by the actors of the National Theater. The celebrations for the Independence Day culminates with a big concert at Mother Theresa Square.
