For several years in a row, the number of passengers arriving and leaving Albania through Rinas airport has increased.
This is proven by the latest data published by the International Council of Airports.
The data show that for the period January-August 2024, compared to the same period of 2019, the number of passengers who used Rinas airport increased by 259.4%.
Some factors that have contributed to this growth are reported to be the creation of conditions through reduced taxes that brought the increase of low-cost air companies.
The International Council of Airports ranks Albania first, leaving behind not only the countries of the region with a consolidated tourism but also many countries in Europe.
Croatia recorded an increase of only 18.2%, neighboring Italy 14.7%, North Macedonia 19.6% and Serbia 32%. Montenegro suffered a 12.5% decrease in the number of travelers through Podgorica airport. While Kosovo has experienced a significant increase of 71.2%.
