Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The increase metal scrap price has made the thefts of metal parts even
more frequent. Three villages at the Devoll district are facing the lack
of electricity, after robbers have taken the electricity poles for
scrap metal.
Two kilometers of electric cable that connected 11 electric poles have been stolen by identified people, who have left the residents in ciomplete darkness.
The mountainous terrain and the big distance between the villages has enabled the robbers to get away with the stolen goods, causing serious damages to most of the problems.
Besides the other difficulties of life in this remote mountainous region, the 15 families of the Gjyre village have to face the lack of contact with other family members.
While in the other two villages there are only two families. Regardless their efforts for having electricity, they have had no positive answer.
