Three miners are receiving treatment in the Tirana American Hospital, in serious conditions.

The surgeon Kenan Bajrakci explains that miner Basri Toska is out of life danger, while the two others will undergo surgery.

“Zaimi is out of life danger and in more stable conditions. His lungs are better and will allow us to operate. The third patient is still in life danger, at the reanimation of the Lapraka Hospital. He has serious head damages, cranium fracture, left clavicle fracture in the right foot and pneumotoraxis. The other patient, Basri Toska, is in better conditions and will not need interventions as the two others, but he will be kept under surveillance”, the doctor said.

The mother of Zaim Perloka, who arrived in Tirana right after her son was brought for receiving treatment, says that her son has been working in this mine for 20 years, and that lately he had been involved in the miners’ strike.

Explosion in Bulqize, one miner dead

There’s no rest for the Bulqize miners. A grave accident has taken place this Tuesday morning, which left one miner dead and wounded 9 others, while they were working at the 16th level. It is suspected that the cause was a gas explosion at the gallery they were working in.

Latest information suggest that the miner that passed away is the 39-year-old Naim Shyti. The wounded miners are in serious conditions for their life.

The emergency units have arrived on the site and are transporting the wounded miners to the hospital, while waiting a helicopter from Tirana to give them a more specialized treatment in the capital.

There are still no other details about this tragic event.
