The “Reestablishment” group of the DP opposition has today threatened the SPAK special prosecution that it will “besiege” it, if it does not arrest the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, which they accuse of corruption.
The statement was made by Adriana Kalaja, who is also a member of the National Reestablishment Council, during the seventh protest in front of the City Hall led by Veliaj.
“Citizens are ready to destroy any wall of corruption. Citizens are capable of breaking down any barriers that prevent them from exercising their rights. Citizens are capable enough to distinguish between those who side with the corrupt and murderers, and those who live by the sweat of their brow. We showed today that we will be here. I appeal to (Chief Prosecutor) Altin Dumani, do not take the situation to the point where we come to surround the SPAK prosecution, but take measures to arrest Veliaj. We will come to surround SPAK until you implement the law, until you implement the Constitution. Arrest Erion Veliaj”, declared Adriana Kalaja.
This protest saw the participation of a smaller number of protesters, despite Kala’s statements at the end of each protest that there will be more next Tuesday.
At the end of the protest, Kalaja called the crowd to move the alley of former DP Prime Minister’s Berisha home, who is held under house arrest, because as she said, ‘there will be surprises.’
