Kids in Tirana will have as per today a newly reconstructed playground just in front of the Presidential Palace. Present at the ceremony, Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj said he was happy starting the second year of his term in office with a gift for the children of the city.
“I am glad to start August and the second year of our term with a wonderful job for the children. I want to thank all the colleagues from the Municipality, all our agencies, who worked during summer to make sure this playground would be ready. The third one in town after those on the Lake and in Mine Peza street”, Veliaj said. The park itself got bigger, Veliaj added, urging all public institutions to remove fences and borders, in order for the public to profit from as much free space as possible.
This playground is just the third in Tirana, but the local authorities plan to have 12 built within this year. “We will add 9 more playgrounds, to make sure every neighborhood of Tirana has one”, Veliaj said, listing areas such as Allias and Lapraka as the next in line to have the playground finished.
