Theft at Evidence Room of Serious Crimes

This room was filmed this Wednesday by Top Channel, while mechanics were changing the locks for security reasons.

Although there are many valuable objects in the room, such as a diamond ring and 10 Rolex watches, the thief has taken 50.000 ALL and 300.000 EUR, part of the Arben Veliko case, charged of drug traffic. The thief has been able to avoid the high security measures of the building and cameras.

This theft has alarmed the Ministry of Justice, which has sent two inspectors for further investigations. The President of the Court, Etleva Deda, says that the suspect must be one of the employees at the Court of Serious Crimes.

Deda adds that the thief’s objective was a sabotage of the Court of Serious Crimes work, not financial benefit, since he has left many valuable objects.

This serious event happened on the verge of the meeting of the High Council of Justice, for electing the new President of the Court of Serious Crimes.

While the Tirana Police have sent their experts for the case, one employee has been dismissed for a previous occurrence, when he had used the Court’s universal key without an official order. The Ministry of Justice declared that there will be administrative measures within 24 hours.
