The wining studio has been chosen for the Kllogjeri Memorial, also known
as the Monumental Cemetery that commemorates the 2960 Chameria
Albanians.

The chairman of the jury, Artan Lame, mentioned the significance of this memorial, including the criteria for choosing the winner.

“The number of projects that were presented in November was a nice surprise. Besides being a place where souls will rest in peace, it has to do with our dignity and that of our compatriots, because it should be a place of memory and respect to their act”, Lame declared.

The organizer of this initiative, Shpetim Idrizi, chairman of the Party of Justice, Integration and Unity declared that this competition was based on the professional view, and it had 8 studios participating, one of them from Kosovo.

“We feel liberated today that we are building a cemetery and a monument, where we will go and make our pilgrimage by respecting their act. We have discussed with the Albanian government for cinancing this project, but it will be financed also by the Albanians of Chameria and all Albania. This is a big national project that will be financed by businessmen from Chameria, Kosovo, Macedonia and Albania. This is a wonderful work of art that should be finished on the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Albanian state”, Idrizi declared.

Idrizi announced the winner chosen by the jury, led by Ronida Myrtaj and Nexhmedin Musai. This 1 million EUR project will be soon implemented in Kllogjer, Saranda, where the Albanian Chams are buried, after they were killed 70 years ago by Greece.
