The Canaku family in the Kreykuq village of Divjaka had to face not only
grief for the horrible death of their daughter, but they also find it
hard to accept her relationship with the 65-year-old Sokrat Shano, who
killed her and himself.
Relatives say the family had tried several times to bring an end to that relation, but the late daughter had rejected their intervention.
The story started three years and a half ago, when the young woman interrupted an engagement with a boy for the 65-year-old man. This time, Jonida had decided to really end the relationship with Shano, but he did not accept it.
Neighbors say behind cameras they found it difficult to be present in the funeral. Only 25 of them were there for the burial.
But quite the opposite happened in the other village, Krutje e Siperme, just 20 minutes away. Margarita Spaho and her two children are welcoming several visitors who come to express condolences for the death of her husband.
Although he killed a young woman and then himself, neighbors describe him as a good and honest man.
Shano suffocated the 29-year-old on August 13th, then killed himself, leaving a letter with the address of the apartment where police found her body.
