Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The celebration month for the 100th anniversary of independence started
with the opening of an exhibition that displays 50 unique books,
brochures, manuals, memorandums, appeals and protests addressed to the
Great Powers in defence of the Albanian cause.
These are unique documents from the Prizren League and to the Lushnje Congress, all key periods in the history of our country.
“The Albanians have made many memorandums and the foreigners for the Albanians too. I hope that we will have other rare surprises like this that we can watch together”, declared Aurel Plasari, director of the National Library.
A memorial of Dora D’Istria, which was read at the Archaeologist’s Association in Athens, faxes of the memorandum of Pashko Vas a in French, on June 1878, and the memorandum of Abdyl Frasheri and Ali Vironi, as delegates of the Prizren League, sent to the governments of Italy, France, Britain, Germany and Austria, as signers of the Berlin Tractate on May 1879, are some of the pieces in this exhibition.
“The documents of the Prizren League are very impressive, which incarnate in the best way the ideal of the national unity that will inspire them at any time for unification, development and new horizons. I invite the Albanian citizens to get to know these documents that founded their state, foundations laid by their efforts for freedom and national dignity”, the Prime Minister declared.
This exhibition will stay open for 10 days at the National Library and everyone will be able to see these unique important pieces of the Albanian history.
