The Parliamentary Reform stalemate

Namik Dokle, co-chairman of the Parliamentary Reform Commission declared that they have progressed with some relatively small amends of the Parliamentary Regulation. It seems that the most difficult part of the discussion will be that for the return of the secret voting.

“We are discussing concrete issues, which need strong commitment from the colleagues of the majority, in order to have a political will and progress. We have positively cooperated with two colleagues, but we have noted their redrawal for some important matters. We are expecting more good will from their Parliamentary Group, especially for some key elements of the regulation changes, such as the secret voting or other issues”, Dokle declared.

Namik Dokle also expressed his concern that 4 of the 12 priorities are taking most of the attention, and nothing is being made for 8 others.

“4 of 12 priorities were related with the cooperation with the opposition, such as the election of the Ombudsman, the voting of qualified majority laws, which are in a positive process, the electoral and Parliamentary reform. We are insisting for these four problems to be resolved with the joint efforts and will of both parties. As regards integration and the other 8 other priorities, we are noting that there is no progress, no visible steps, and I believe that these should be taken altogether. The Socialist Party is ready to make its duties, but we have noted obstacles even in these four elements, and there is no attention for the 8 others, which is a direct duty of the government”, Dokle declared.

Top Channel contacted Democratic Party representatives at the Parliamentary Reform Commission, and MP Viktor Gumi declared:

“The Democratic Party will announce its stance about the Parliamentary Regulation Reform, right after the working team will be established, in which are present both parties”, he declared.
