The Korce Chief of Police, Nikolin Thana, was arrested this Thursday after he was caught in the act of bribing.
The news was announced by the Interior Minister’s Spokesperson, Leonard Olli.
The Anti Corruption Task Force also arrested Jetnor Hysenllari, Arben Hysenllari and Hysni Myrtollari, residents of Voskopoja.
The Prosecution seized 100.000 ALL, which have been accepted by the Chief of Police in exchange of closing a case.
During a parallel investigation, the authorities arrested Fatmir Hoxha, who was accompanying the late Chief of Shijak Police, Adem Tahiraj, at the moment when he was killed.
He is accused of failing to fulfill his duty and power abuse.
A second police officer, Kastriot Kosturani, was also wanted for power abuse and avoiding the investigation, which is also related with the murder of the Chief of Police.
