Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The constructions for the national road segment Kardhiq-Delvine have
started in 2007. According to the information sign placed at the Kardhiq
road, the first lot should have ended by April 2009.
The residents and the commune representatives declared that the works have been in fact interrupted for more than one year, and during this period there were only small interventions for saving the houses that were threatened by the landslide.
The three responsible firms have failed to explain the interruption. The Cepo commune representative from where the Kastriot Hamzai road starts, says that they have kept constant communication with the construction firms, but they don’t know why the works have been interrupted.
5000 residents of the Cepo commune say that they would benefit from the national road that would pass across the eight villages of this commune. But the road that should have finished three years ago, is currently bringing only problems. The landslides and the stone masses have blocked even the segment that was actually finished. The major benefit of this work, a faster way to Saranda, seems still far from being realized.
