Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, did not lose time before making clear her vision about Western Balkan.
The successor of Jean Claude Juncker expressed optimism that the European Commission would take a positive decision regarding the EU negotiations with Albania and Northern Macedonia.
“I want to reaffirm the European perspective of Western Balkan. I see an important role in the reform process for the entire region, an area that has the same history and culture with us, and the same challenged. I fully support it and stand by the proposition of the European Commission to open the negotiations with Albania and Northern Macedonai”, said Ursula von der Leyen, the first woman who will lead the European Commission, and who was elected with 383 votes in favor and 327 against.
