When more than 24 hours have passed since the end of the Electoral
Reform Parliamentary Commission, the only thing that is clear is that
the reform has not been realized.
The members will join today around 18:00 and will discuss the amends of the electronic ballot count and identity card chapters. These changes come after a sudden intervention of the ODIHR experts, who are against the electronic voting.
The appealing process stale will not be resolved today, since it is not in the agenda.
SP remains determined in its proposition to change only the way how the seventh member of the Central Election Commission will be proposed, by leaving the current formula unchanged, with three members from the opposition and three from the majority. The seventh who will determine the majority of the CEC, according to the Socialist party, should not be elected by the parties, but by four institutions: the Ombudsman, the Supreme Court, the High Council of Justice and the Chamber of Lawyers.
The Democratic Party has no proposition, since they have left it up to the Socialists to change the code. We don’t exclude the opportunity that this commission will ask more time to the Parliament for fulfilling its mission.
