On Good Friday, the Catholic faithful of Shkodra in northern Albania, spent the day in prayer and meditation.
In the evening, many people participated in the Way of the Cross procession from the Great Church to the Rrmaji Cemetery, to commemorate the martyrs who gave their lives for their religion and homeland.
While this morning, with baskets of food in their hands, they went to the churches to bless the food, which they will consume on Easter Sunday.
In his Easter message, Archbishop Angelo Massafra told the faithful that no aversity could rob them of hope.
“Dear friends, the difficulties of life will not have the last word and we cannot allow ourselves to give in to the devilish temptation, because we have faith in the resurrected Christ, we have the possibilities to face everything with courage and generosity.
“In the religion of the resurrected Christ we do not allow anything or anyone to rob us of hope.
The time has come for us all to commit ourselves seriously to building the good. It doesn’t matter what obstacles come our way”, said Angelo Massafra, Archbishop of the Diocese of Shkodra.
Today in the evening in the cathedral of St. Stephen, the solemn mass that symbolizes the resurrection of Christ will be held.
