The Constitutional Court decided to suspend the process, Igor Kokunov is anyway extradited to Russia

Even though the Constitutional Court suspended the extradition, it is reported that the proces has now gone ahead as Russian citizen Igor Kokunov is heading to Russia, according to Top Channel’s Anila Hoxha.

A few hours ago, the extradition proceedings of the Russian Igor Kokunov, wanted by Russia for mafia connections, were temporarily suspended.

At the meeting of the Judges of the Constitutional Court, it was emphasized that it is the conditions that impose the temporary suspension of this procedure, while Kokunov was held in isolation.

The 60-year-old Russian arrested in Albania has refused extradition to Russia for a long time.

Known by the nickname “Vasia Bandit”, the Russian prosecution says in the file that Top Channel obtained, that the 60-year-old from 1993-2019 took high positions in the criminal hierarchy.

The Russian agencies tell Albania that Kokunov from 2005-2015 offered criminal patronage of the activity of the joint stock company “FIRST Moscow Watch Factory” with a fee to receive money in almost 1 million rubles.

Then he resolved conflicts with other criminal structures until he took the highest position with these leaders of the criminal world, it is further written in the file.

During the court hearings, Igor Kokunov has admitted that has problems with justice in Moscow, but the criminal proceedings have been according to him, exacerbated  because of the bad relationship he has with the dictatorial regime of President Vladimir Putin.
