The court has decided to accept the first lawsuit of the opposition that demands dispersal of the structure of the government Board of Prices, which sets the prices of food products, setting January 31 as the day when the first hearing will take place against the government’s Competition Authority.
The Transparency Boards were established by the government in March 2022 in order to “alleviate the price crisis”, but for the opposition these structures served to legislate the interests of certain businesses in a complete lack of transparency and not to help Albanians.
The lawsuit against the board of food products is not the only one in the court’s drawers, as the Constitutional Court will also decide on the dissolution of the structure that sets the price of fuel, with the argument that this board was set up with the aim of favoring a group of oligarchs at the expense of the citizens.
With the end of the year holidays, January is expected to be an intense month for the judges who will have to decide on the mandate of minister Olta Xhaçka on nepotism complaints and the lawsuit against the Butrint tourist site concession.
